Lake Macquarie Music Society will present its 2023 FESTIVAL OF THE CHOIRS.
Date & time: Sunday September 17th, 2023, at 2pm
Venue: Warners Bay Theatre, Lake Street.
Festival of the Choirs continues our tradition of an annual celebration of Hunter Region Choral singing.
This Year there are eight choirs:
- Counterpoint Chamber Choir, an SATB accompanied group specialising in classical repertoire.
- Novatones, a male voice a capella group with some surprising moves.
- Hunter Women of Note, who sing unaccompanied 4 part songs in Barber Shop style.
- Callaghan Singers, a Community Men’s and Women’s group based at the University of Newcastle who sing a wide range of styles.
- Song Crew, a children’s choir from the Julie Logan School of Music trained by Julie Fawcett. Song Crew sang in the recent Opera hunter production of La Boheme.
- BrainWave Stroke Choir, based at the Newcastle Conservatorium, is a choir for survivors of Stroke.
- Under Construction conducted by Kay Lane OAM is a Mental Health Community Choir which fosters well-being in a caring and inclusive environment.
- Song Sisters, is a Women’s Choir directed by Kim Sutherland OAM. It encourages women to thrive through friendship & support for health and well-being.
All choirs will unite in a finale presenting the traditional round Dona Nobis Pacem, and Ke Arona – All Power to the people conducted by convenor Kay Lane OAM
