Kate Moloney is currently is studying a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under world acclaimed harpist and teacher, Alice Giles.
Since 2014, Kate has been principal harpist of Sydney Youth Orchestras and is the principal harpist of The Metropolitan Orchestra. Kate has played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows and the Australian Youth Orchestra, as well as numerous community orchestras and ensembles across Sydney, including the Highly Strung Harp Ensemble.
Kate has played in the orchestra for the Australian Institute of Music’s opera productions of Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, as well as Sydney Youth Orchestra’s productions of Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and Bernstein’s Candide. In 2018, Kate undertook an internship with Opera Australia.
As a soloist, Kate has performed at the Sydney Opera House as part at The Arts Unit Festival of Instrumental Music and at private functions for Chopard, Harpers Bazaar Magazine and Irish Enterprise Australia. She also performs at various events throughout Sydney as part of a flute and harp duet, Classical Elegance. In 2017, Kate won the Sutherland Shire and St George Youth Music Awards.
